Honda Maintenance Codes

Each Honda maintenance code has a one-letter main code and a one-digit number subcode (i.e. B1 or A4). Put together, the two codes tell you exactly what your Honda needs.

Main Code

• A: Replace engine oil

• B: Replace engine oil and oil filter, inspect front and rear brakes, inspect fuel lines and connections, and other inspections specific to the model

Subcode

• 1: Rotate tires

• 2: Replace air cleaner element and air filter, inspect drive belt

• 3: Replace transmission fluid

• 4: Replace spark plugs, replace timing belt and inspect water pump, inspect valve clearance

• 5: Replace engine coolant

• 6: Replace rear differential fluid

• 7: Replace brake fluid

The Honda Maintenance Minder

The Honda Maintenance Minder features hundreds of sensors all over your car tracking your vehicle’s oil life and general performance. Simply press the Select/Reset knob in the information display to display your remaining oil life – if it’s at 15% or lower, it’s time to schedule a service appointment. When the oil sensor or another sensor in your vehicle is triggered, the onboard computer will show the appropriate two-digit Honda maintenance code.

Driving Style

Your Honda Maintenance Minder won’t recommend an oil change just because the odometer racked up another 5,000 miles. If most of your driving is on the highway in mild weather, you may not see an alert until 7,000 miles. If you tow heavy equipment in cold weather, you may see an alert after only 3,500 miles.
